Thoughts On Crafting and Gardening...

I've been doing a lot of crafting lately.  Like, A LOT of crafting.  Maybe more than one person should be doing.  I've been making lots of new goodies for my shop, Cottage Industry, like embroidery hoop art and pin cushions to sell this weekend at an event I'm a vendor at, The Na-Da Farm Barn Sale.
I spent months making things for my shop and then to my HUGE surprise most of it all sold!  Then, I was in a pickle...within 2 weeks I had to whip up more goods to sell at the barn sale, hence the mad crafting that's been going on here.  I'm definitely losing my crafty mind because it wasn't until I finished this, did I realize I had the fabric upside down!
I mean, what level of crazy are you at when you are literally staring at your project while working and you don't see this?!  There goes and hour I'll never get back.  Definitely NOT a happy day.

Immediately after I realized this project was hopeless, I decided to go out into the garden and take my frustrations out on some weeds!  See, this is why it's good to have a garden.  You use whatever trusty garden tool you like to pull up weeds and you can just go crazy whacking and yelling at them!  But, if you really want to get your stress out, I suggest getting your spade shovel and trenching your borders or better yet, make new borders.  Yep, that's just what I did after my embroidery craft fail.  I worked my butt off in that garden for 1 hour and my craft disaster became a thing of the past AND my garden was looking good I must say.
And that's my 2 cents on crafting and gardening today.  Anyone else having a craft meltdown/fail?  Getting garden therapy?

Here's the details on the barn sale should you be in or around IL, it's worth the trip!

There will be lots of pretty vintage and handmade for sale, as well as yummy baked goods made by Anne-Marie, who owns the farm.  You can visit nadafarmlife.org/events for all the details.

A few pics from sales past...

In spite of my stress in getting everything ready for this sale, I'm really excited about selling there again, and I hope to see some of you there!  I'll be in the barn under my shop name, "Cottage Industry".  Come Shop, Relax, Have A Cupcake.

Stacey

"The Cottage Industry shop is stocked with all things Cottage Style for your home, self, and loved ones.  We have a handpicked, curated, unique selection of vintage, handmade, and vintage inspired goods all right here... Happy Shopping!" - from the website

I have been really conscious of seeking out and selling items that are made not only by myself, but by other small businesses and individual entrepreneurs, as it was important to me to have the majority of the items in the shop NOT be mass-produced and manufactured overseas.

I also really wanted to make sure the prices were really reasonable, the quality excellent, and the product offering unique to what I have seen oversaturated in the market.  Color and "Vintage Cute" is my thing, my personal style, and this shop is a reflection of me, so you will be sure to find lots of bright, happy, cottagey pretties at the Cottage Industry shop!

I hope you love the shop as much as I do, and I thank you wholeheartedly, for all of the kind words and encouragement you have left on the blog and/or emailed in regards to the shop and all my cuckoo business adventures.

Be sure to check back in for a SWEET grand opening
giveaway on Tuesday 4/30!
Shop opens on Tuesday at 9am

My Inner Granny

I love the phrase, "Granny Chic"... whoever came up with it is kind of a genius.
There is no better way I can think, to describe this crochet, quilty, floral, vintage lovin' style!

 {source}

There's even a book...

Oh, how I wish I knew how to crochet...

I've been channeling my "Inner Granny" lately.
I have a new {vintage} Granny-rific tole chandelier, and I know that it's perfectly Granny Chic, because when I posted it on my Facebook page, a few mentioned that their grandmas' had one just like it...tee hee.
I purchased it from Ebay and I luuuurrrrve it!
 {I'd show you how it looks with the table if there weren't a bunch of random stuff on the table!}

Another couple of granny-ish purchases made recently are these fab vintage crochet armchair covers.

and equally fab embroidered
English Cottage wall hanging.

Both of the above pretties came from Trisha Brink Design, she finds and sells Ah-Mazing stuff!

I love a vintage quilt, of which these are two of mine, handmade by somebody's granny, no doubt.

Should you need further proof of my granny self, I already own these sandals, which came up on Pinterest under a "Granny Chic" search.

Oh, and my home was featured on the lovely blog, Heart Handmade UK, describing my style as, Granny Chic.

I also enjoy a very granny-like craft...Embroidery!
{Pie embroidery hoop art by me}

{Camper embroidery hoop art by me}

Not by me, but I love this cross stitch in my living room...
I guess that's just me, Stacey, 36 going on 90!

Not exactly related to Granny Chic...perhaps more Cottage Chic, I wanted to mention that my home was a featured Cottage of the Week tour on the lovey blog, The Cottage Market
Andrea from The Cottage Market is always sharing cute cottage tours and awesome ideas for decorating and crafting on her blog, stop by and check it out if you haven't already, you'll love it!

XO,
Stacey

P.S.  The Shop opens in 7 days!!!
